Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Chioma Ifemeludike Grace has called out Nollywood for not acknowledging the death of veteran actor, Benjamin Nwani Okolo who recently died at age 83.
Kemi Filani gathered that the veteran actor died on the 22nd of Feb after a brief illness and no announcement of his demise were publicly made.
According to the young actress, who expressed displeasure, lamented that iconic actors like that shouldn’t die without receiving properly acknowledgement and recognition, as they had putting so much into the industry during their lifetime.
In her own words; she wrote;
“How old veterans die without acknowledgement or recognition from Nollywood is really shocking, like these men were part of us, we shared memories with these elders but once they get sick and die they’re barely remembered or celebrated especially if they were not very popular… is this not hypocrisy???
PA Benjamin Nwani okolo, was a renowned nollywood (elder) actor, died 21 Feb. 2021. (As seen on Facebook). Until his death, he was once a director at UNTH ENUGU, and a very talented actor. Nollywood we can do better!!! RIP sir. May God grant his family the fortitude to bare such a loss.”
