The African Union set to reward CSOs involved in peace and security

African Union

The African Union is presenting awards to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) involved in Youth, Women, Peace, and Security in an effort to promote and defend African common positions on issues of interest to the continent and its people.

The award aims to acknowledge the significant contribution that civil society has made to the WPS agenda’s implementation.

This initiative is also in line with the objectives of the African Union, which include developing a people-centered society and implementing Agenda 2063 for shared prosperity and well-being, unification, and integration as well as a continent of free citizens and horizons where the potential of women and young people is fully realized.

There will be a total of six (6) winners who have significantly aided the WPS and YPS agendas in their nation or community. By completing extraordinary projects or activities, candidates must show that they have significantly impacted the following areas:

The prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, as well as the protection of women and young people in conflict situations;

Conflict prevention, transformation, resolution, and consolidation of gender mainstreaming peace processes;

A multifaceted approach to conflict prevention, resolution, and peacebuilding;
