Tuesday Weld’s father, Lathrop Motley Weld, passed away in 1947, leaving her family drowning in debt. Her mother, Yosene Balfour Ker, who was a life illustrator and artist, had to support the family by enrolling Tuesday in modeling. Her paternal family considered her mother to be a significant burden, but Weld’s mother never gave up and did everything well for her children. Weld had two siblings, David Balfour Weld and Sarah King Weld.

In 1956, Tuesday Weld made her film debut in Alfred Hitchcock’s crime drama “The Wrong Man.” She starred in the film “Rock, Rock, Rock,” which featured singers such as Frankie Lymon, Chuck Berry, and Johnny Brunette. She also appeared on television shows such as Goodyear Playhouse and Backwoods Cinderella. She is best known for her performance in “The Dark at the Top of the Stairs” and supporting roles, such as in 20th Century Fox’s 1958 film “Rally Round the Flag, Boys!”

Tuesday Weld rose to fame for her role in “The Five Pennies,” released in 1959, in which she played Danny Kaye’s daughter and was universally admired.
