Elon Musk stated that Twitter has increased its daily active users by 1.6 million in the last week.
According to him, the previous week’s record was yet another all-time high for the microblogging site.
According to Musk’s weekly chart, average weekly users on the platform increased by 1.6 million from 257.8 million in the week ended November 13 to 259.4 million in the week ended November 20, 2022.
The increase in users coincides with speculation that people are leaving Twitter due to Elon Musk and the unfavorable policies he has implemented since taking over ownership of the company. These include the addition of a $8 monthly fee for the Blue Check and the restoration of accounts previously banned by Twitter for violating the platform’s policies.
Following the resignation of some Twitter engineers last week, a number of hashtags, including #RIPTwitter and #GoodByeTwitter, became popular on the website. Users were concerned that the departure of the company’s engineers would lead to its demise. However, Musk stated that those who are important to the company would not be leaving.
Relaunch of Twitter Blue
Meanwhile, Musk announced on Monday night that the planned relaunch of Twitter Blue has been postponed.
The initial rollout of the subscription plan had failed because impersonators were quick to create accounts in the names of high-profile personalities who aren’t on Twitter and get verified.
Musk stated that the relaunch will not take place until he is confident that impersonators will not be able to take advantage of the subscription program. He stated:
“Holding off the relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation. Will probably use different colour checks for organizations than individuals.”
