Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, better known by his stage name 2baba, has described award-winning singer, Wizkid as one of the legends of this generation.
As Nigerians battle it out on who reigns supreme between Wizkid and Davido, an old video of 2baba highly praising Wizkid resurfaced online.
In the video, 2baba sat down with HipTV host where he pointed out how the soon-to-be Grammy winner is deserving of the legendary title, unlike his contemporaries who call themselves legends.
According to 2baba, the word ‘legend’ was held in high esteem, but now many artistes are using it to describe themselves.
The ‘Gaga Shuffle’ crooner added that Wizkid is very sound lyrically, but he chooses to release the type of songs that only appeals to the young audience of his generation.
He said, “Wizkid is one of the legends of his generation, and I don’t use that word ‘legend’ lightly. In as much as I want to say everyone is a legend these days, they don water that word ‘legend’ down. Anybody wey just gets one hit now na legend, but I use that word for Wizkid”.
This isn’t the first time, 2baba would be commending the singer.
Kemi Filani news recalls 2baba made the day of Wizkid after commending his style of music.
2baba had taken to his Instagram to send a direct message, DM to the Made in Lagos singer concerning his music style, which he finds distinct and at the same time worthy of accolades.
He wrote, “One of the greatest things to happen to any musician is to find their distinct sound. Listening to SFTOS and MIL albums, I see u have found yours. It’s a beautiful thing young done. It was a dream”.
Reacting to it, Wizkid shared a screenshot of his message as he expressed as he revealed how excited he was about getting accolades from his childhood superstar.
“Wow! Means a lot coming from a legend I grew up admiring. Thank you @official2baba”.
