Nollywood actress Simi Gold has reportedly been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for sprayingnew Naira notes.
The EFCC released a statement where they expressed that she was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for spraying on new Naira notes at a social event in Lagos.
Recall that Simi Gold had first been arraigned back in February 13, 2023, on two count charges, which she pleaded to not guilty. She was subsequently granted bail two days later.
On the 28th of January, 2023, according to the court, she was dancing on 100,000 Naira, which was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria which was a punishable offense.
However, in view of the overwhelming evidence that was levelled against her, Simi Gold, who had first pleaded not guilty, soon pled guilty. Following her guilty plea, she was processed and after further investigation was carried out, she was asked to pay a sum of 300,000 Naira or risk six months’ imprisonment.
