Nigerians on Wedneday 21st April recieved the sad news on the demise of popular Nigerian comedienne, Ada Jesus
after battling kidney failure and partial stroke for months.
The deceased died in an Abuja hospital, having suffered a cardiac arrest last night and was rushed to the ICU, where the doctors monitored her.
Also, a lady identified as Maria Ude Nwachi confirmed the news in a Facebook post as she shared a photo of the comedian with the message of her death.
She wrote; “JUST IN! Ada Jesus (Mercy Cynthia Ginikachukwu) has passed away. RIP”.

Ada Jesus had a few months ago accused Nollywood actress Rita Edochie of conniving with Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, a controversial Onitsha-based clergyman better known as Odumeje, to stage fake miracles.
However, the movie star had dismissed the allegations and cursed the comedienne for attempting to smear her reputation. Not long after the entertainer’s allegations, she took ill and later became paralyzed.
Friends of the Fast-rising Nigerian comedian took to social media to cry out for her help after the skit maker was diagnosed with a kidney problem.
According to Ada’s friend, identified as Ella Ada, the comedian needed help because she is seriously ill. She, however, begged her fans to pray for her recovery.
Taking to Facebook to say this, Ella wrote; “Please pray for Ada Jesus, she’s really sick and have kidney problem, she has been admitted to a hospital. Please let’s pray for her Ada nothing will happen to you in Jesus name amen”.
A few months later, the family brought her before prophet Odumejeje for deliverance. However, the prophet rejected her while Rita Edochie rained curses and abuses on her, saying she will never forgive her.
In the video shared online, Rita Edochie was heard saying, “You will go from here; you will die from this so that others can learn” – In Igbo.
Odumeje refused to accept the apology of Ada Jesus and her family as he only recounted how Ada Jesus damaged his image with the videos she made on social media, asking her to go and bring the others with her. He also threatened to go after her family members and generation when he is done with her.
After various taunting comments on social media Rita Edochie who had condemned Comedian Ada Jesus to death, shared a video on her Instagram page saying she has forgiven Ada Jesus.
In the video, the actress who vowed never to forgive Ada Jesus said she’s happy she has been vindicated and lots of people around the world had beckoned on her to forgive the erring comedian. She also warned people who insult men of God to desist from such an act.
Sharing the video on her Instagram, she wrote; ”ADA JESUS I HAVE FORGIVEN YOU. I am happy that the WHOLE WORLD has seen that Ada Jesus framed all SORTS of LIES and HEAPED on ME. I have been VINDICATED by Ada’s PREDICAMENTS. The good LORD has FOUGHT my BATTLE for me.As a RESULT of PLEADINGS from people, PARTICULARLY my FANS, i have FORGIVEN her. Let HER beg GOD for FORGIVENESS and HEALING.”
A few days after Ada Jeusu was admitted to the hospital, Odumejeje bowed to pressure and forgave the popular comedienne and gifted her family the sum of 1 Million Naira cash.
In his word: “I have forgiven her, I will give your family One Million Naira. I am giving you 1 million Naira for further treatment, but if it is a spiritual battle, I am ready.”
