Nigerians have expressed their disappointment in former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Adamu Garba for calling for the immortalizion of Queen Elizabeth in University of Nigeria, Nsukka
The politician has earned wide backlash and criticism for his statement.
Kemi Filani news reported that the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, died yesterday, the 8th of September 2022, at Balmoral Estate in Scotland.
Despite dying at the ripe age of 96, Queen Elizabeth II’s death came as a shock to many after an official statement was made public by Buckingham Palace.
Following the sad news, photos of the late Queen have taken over the internet, with many sharing heartwarming tributes to mark the
monarch’s legacies.
In honour of her, Adamu called for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to be renamed after the late Queen.
Adamu revealed that if he was the President of Nigeria, he would declare 3 days of National Mourning for her and rename University of Nigeria to Queen Elizabeth University of Nigeria.
Giving reasons, he noted how University of Nigeria is the first university in Nigeria.
According to him, 7 decades isn’t a small feat.

Kemi Filani recalls that Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and the nation’s figurehead for seven decades, died aged 96, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday, September 8.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and return to London tomorrow.”
With this latest development, her eldest son Charles, 73, automatically became King of the United Kingdom and the head of state of 14 other realms, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Her family had rushed to be by her side at her Scottish home, Balmoral Castle after doctors expressed concern about her health. She had been suffering from what Buckingham Palace has called “episodic mobility problems” since the end of last year, forcing her to withdraw from nearly all her public engagements.
Queen Elizabeth II, was also the world’s oldest and longest-serving monarchs.
