Kemi Filani reported that the 16th edition of the biggest music award ceremony was held on Sunday night at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta.
The award which is to celebrate Afrobeats and African culture had in attendance several African A-list artists from across Africa.
The show which was tagged, ‘Celebrating African Renaissance’, was a historic night for Asake, who made history and broke records at the award show.
Asake becomes the first Artist to win The Next Rated and Album of the Year on the same night.
To add to it, the ‘Lonely At The Top’ singer, joins Simi, Asa, and Kizz Daniel who have won the Headies Album of the Year with their debut albums.
Asake writes Headies over his nominations
Recall that Asake had written to Headies over his nominations for the 2023 awards.
On Instagram, Asake appreciated the organizers of the Headies Awards for nominating him in eight categories.
Asake was nominated for Next Rated, Best Male Artiste, Album Of The Year, Best Collaboration, and Song Of The Year among other categories of the awards.
Appreciating the organizers, the YBNL signee noted that the nomination meant a lot to him.
Asake’s rise to fame
