Nigerian comedian and award-winning filmmaker, Ayo Makun has tendered a deep apology to the general public ahead of the New Year.
In a post on his Instagram page, AY listed out the type of people he is apologizing to. He apologised to those who think he is proud, he ignored them, those who felt offended by his attitude or character, those who he didn’t visit or call during the year, those who he hurt by words or actions, those whose promises he didn’t fulfill, and those who felt he is too serious.
According to him, he doesn’t want to enter 2024 with baggage of hurts and bitterness. Revealing his New Year resolution, he stated that he wants to be better than his yesterday and wants to be better than he ever was in 2024.

This year has been scandalous for the comedian as he had a public spat with Basketmouth, Seun Kuti, and also got backlash over his insensitive comment about Davido.
The whole drama with Seun Kuti started after he made a mockery of Ayo Makun over his burnt house, as he claimed that the comedian had called his daughter a dog in one of his dry skits and had also used his (Seun) trials and tribulations to make jokes.
Dropping a bombshell about the comedian, he claimed that AY beats his wife and has a smelling mouth which everyone knows in the industry.
Replying to him, AY noted how the more he tries to avoid animosity and incessant attacks, the more he sees himself as a programmed misery meal for others. With evidence, he debunked his series of allegations, especially that of calling the singer’s daughter a dog.
The comedian almost fell out with Davido after a video emerged from his latest show mocking Davido’s manhood and shading him over his scandalous cheating habits despite being married.
The insensitive joke got angry Nigerians raging on the internet, as they condemned the father of two for publicly disgracing his entertainment colleague, and AY tendered an apology to Davido, which he accepted.
The biggest of his celebrity brawl this year was with colleague, Basketmouth who he revealed fell out with him over N30,000. In an interview, he recounted how he was embarrassed and humiliated at Basketmouth’s wedding.
However, Basketmouth had something different to say as he boldly stated that he had never been friends with AY. Revealing what transpired between them, the father of three alleged that AY was using lies about their feud to promote his show, stating that is his usual style.
After all efforts to reconcile with him which became futile, Ayo Makun stated that he would be happy if he goes to the grave without reconciling with Basketmouth.
