Award-winning Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha better known by his stage name Basketmouth has tendered a deep apology to his colleague, Ayo Makun.
In a video on his Instagram page, he apologized to AY for everything he had done or said that had affected him as he called for them to live in peace and harmony.
He also apologized to anyone in the industry who has been offended over time knowingly or unknowingly by his actions.
Basketmouth also apologized to those who have accused him of doing things that have affected their career.
He added that his apology is because he has a show coming up next month and he wants his tickets to sell.
“Now to all the people in the industry that I have offended over time knowingly or unknowingly, I say this to you from the bottom of my heart, I am genuinely sorry. Please forgive me.
To the people that have accused me of doing things, that affected their career in one way or the other, I am not going to accept or deny these allegations because God knows the truth. But regardless please forgive me, I beg you from the bottom of my heart.
To my guy, AY I don’t know if my apology is still valid, but if it is please forgive me for whatever I have done or said in the past that has affected you in any way. And I want you to know that I have forgiven you for whatever you did or said. I just want us to live in peace and harmony. For those that feel this apology video is because I have a show that’s coming up on the 26th of November, you are absolutely correct. I am trying to sell tickets for my show but I am also sorry for everything that I have done”.
Recall that for years now, Ayo Makun and Basketmouth haven’t been on good terms over an alleged debt.
AY, in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, claimed that their beef originated over N30,000 debt, which Basketmouth refused to pay him, and as such the comedian struck his name from some events.
Basketmouth, however, shut down his claims, as he stated that he and AY have never been friends.
In another interview with Teju Babyface, AY spoke on his failed attempt to reconcile with Basketmouth and Julius Agwu.
The box office King revealed that he is done making efforts towards making peace with them, and declared that if he goes to his grave without reconciling with them, he would be happy as he knows he tried his best.
Similarly, Comedian Destalker recounted how Basketmouth paid him back over a 2015 misunderstanding.
Narrating what happened, he claimed that following the incident, Basketmouth had struck out his name from high places and all his efforts to reach out to Basketmouth had proved abortive.
