Beyoncé hopes to earn her first Grammy nomination in the dance/electronic music genre. The ballot for the 2023 Grammy Awards shows that Renaissance was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album. Voting for the 2023 Grammy Awards has begun. For Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording, “Break My Soul” was also nominated.
Beyoncé submitted music for R&B consideration in addition to making an effort to compete in the general and dance/electronic categories. “Heated” and “Virgo’s Groove” are eligible for Best R&B Performance, while “Cuff It” was filed for Best R&B Song.
With 28 trophies in her career, Beyoncé is the most successful female performer in Grammy history. She has received nominations for 79 different awards, including those in the R&B, pop, rap, rock, and other categories.
In a statement with Renaissance’s release, Beyoncé acknowledged the electronic and dance music forbears who inspired her. “A big thank you to my Uncle Johnny,” she wrote in reference to a late relative. “He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album. Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you.”
Nigeria’s Burna Boy Elated after meeting Beyonce
Burna Boy recently scored an invite to American singer Beyonce’s party.
The Nigerian singer was among the few attendees at Beyonce’s Tiffany & Co’s partyin Paris.
A photo on social media showed the singer conversing with Beyonce, who wore a bright smile.
Winning an invite to Queen B’s party and having a rare opportunity to converse with her is no doubt a big win for the singer.
Beyonce speaks on working with Nigerian artists
Beyonce, said she wanted a collection of songs from different genres that express what she was trying to pass across.
She said, “This is a sonic cinema, a new experience of storytelling and I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film.
It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro-Beat. I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline. Read more here.
