Nigerian singer, Blackface has revealed why he deserves recognition on junior colleague, Asake’s hit song, Joha.
In an interview with HipTV, Blackface revealed that he felt he should have been in the song as some of his lines were used in Joha. According to him, Joha should have been a remix with him and Asake.
Taking a swipe at Olamide, who is the record label boss of Asake, Blackface stated that if only Olamide had reached out to him, then there would have been a collaboration.
Blackface disclosed that when he first listened to the song, the first thing that hit him was just the line that he used in his own song, which was released in 2020.
He made it clear that he isn’t trying to put Asake’s down, but just want to be credited for his work.
He said, “Listening to the music, the first thing that hit me was just the line. That was the line that I used in my own music. I had already released in the year, 2020. I had already released that song in an album. Though no disrespect because these people have trued to out some works in but I feel like it all about you realizing let give credit to who credit his due. You understand. I am not out to put them down. I feel like they are doing it unconsciously”.
He added, “I feel I should be on Asake’s Joha. That should have been a remix with me and him if Olamide had said ‘my boy is vibing to your sound'”.
Blackface calls out Asake over intellectual property theft
Kemi Filani reported days back that Blackface of the defunct Plantashun Boiz had called out Asake over alleged theft.
In a series of tweets, Blackface accused Asake of not seeking permission from him before remixing his song. He noted how the artiste was trying to outsmart him, but he is way smarter than Asake thinks.
Blackface urged him to do the right thing or risk his wrath.
“You spend $165k dollars to shoot musical video for your artist. Una no fit use 100 naira call the owner of the song before una remix am.
Una dey form say una smart I believe. E better make una do the right thing because this one I no go sorry for una! I dey come”.
Blackface explained further about the song theft while responding to his Twitter fans.
He noted how many upcoming artistes love music, however, it doesn’t give them right to sample, remake or remix works he has already released without permission.
