“Getting married at an older age wasn’t just a choice” Blessing Obasi opens up on the stigma of late marriage

Blessing Obasi stigma of late marriage

Nollywood actress, Blessing Obasi is opening up on the stigma of late marriage.

The movie star, who got married at a late age to her younger colleague, Stan Nze, revealed that it wasn’t just a choice for her but a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and breaking free from societal norms that wanted to dictate her happiness.

She noted how the pressure and stigma were like unwelcome shadows, whispering doubts and casting long, lonely nights. However, in those moments of solitude, she found strength and learned that love isn’t a race nor is marriage a trophy for early achievement.

Blessing further noted how the world often equates a woman’s worth with her marital status, as she admonished her fans to take their time, walk their path, and embrace it.

“You know, I had to jump on this conversation because, after several years of feeling like an outsider in a world that often equates a woman’s worth with her marital status, I’ve finally stepped into a chapter that I crafted on my own terms.

Getting married at an older age wasn’t just a choice; it was a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and breaking free from societal norms that tried to dictate my happiness.

The pressure and stigma were like unwelcome shadows, whispering doubts and casting long, lonely nights. But in those moments of solitude, I found strength. I learned that love isn’t a race, nor is marriage a trophy for early achievement. It’s about finding someone who understands the chapters of your past and wants to write the future ones with you.

So here I am, not a bride of youthful naivety, but a woman adorned in the wisdom of her years, ready to embark on a shared journey of love, respect, and partnership. And to those still walking their path, remember: your life, your pace, your story. Embrace it.

Thank you @joysoapng_ for giving your platform for these conversations to be had. We see you seeing us”.

This isn’t the first time the movie star has addressed her late marriage. In 2022, Blessing Obasi stated that when it comes to matters of the heart, age is just a number.

In the interview, she revealed that she never thought she would end up marrying her colleague because she thought men in the entertainment industry were unfaithful, but her husband proved her wrong.

Blessing Obasi is happily married to her younger colleague, Stan Nze and the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy in 2023.

In September 2022, Blessing and Stan hinted at marital troubles after they stirred controversy on their first anniversary.

Fans of the lovebirds had treated them to surprise anniversary gifts and in the video captured online, Stan Nze felt irritated and angry, which left many of their fans concerned.

Opening up on how their anniversary went, Stan admitted that it wasn’t a joyous one for them, revealing that he and his wife were in different moods as they had argued, and neither was ready to compromise.

However, the couple were able to overcome it and on their second anniversary, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child.

The post, which was accompanied by a heartfelt video, showed the actor’s wife touching her baby bump tenderly.

Opening up on their pregnancy journey, the couple, in an emotional video on their YouTube channel, recounted the moment they found out about their new bundle of joy and gave their fans and followers a sneak peek into their pregnancy journey.
