Nigerian singer, Olawale Oloforo better known as Brymo has compared himself to music star, Burna Boy.
In an interview with Isbae U, on Curiosity Made Me Ask, he stated that Burna Boy isn’t lyrically up to his standard. He made this known while reacting to Burna Boy’s diss freestyle where he insinuated that Brymo has ‘fallen off’. He added that despite the awards Burna has, it doesn’t mean he is better than him as winning an award doesn’t mean you’re the best.
Brymo went on to declare himself the finest vocalist in Africa. According to him, he doesn’t need to think about it as he knows that he is better than everybody.
“Is it [the diss freestyle] not Burna Boy lyrics? But he would like to know that nothing in this world would put his name in my song. He no reach my standard”.
I am the “finest vocalist” in Africa. I’m not proud enough. I’m probably the finest vocalist on the continent. Better than anybody. I’m not thinking. I know this,” he said.
“And yeah, even Twitter guys can’t disagree with him despite the hate. You can win an Award, but that doesn’t mean you’re the best man for that award.”
Throwing shots at Davido, he noted how his parents don’t follow him to shows, sponsor him neither do they have private jets to borrow him to pose with.
“My parents are at home and I am the only child. My papa and mama dey house together, I dey send them money. I am the one who is hustling to work, I don’t carry any of them with me. I am a grown man. My father doesn’t sponsor me, he doesn’t give me anything, he doesn’t borrow me plane to boast”.
Recall that Burna Boy and Brymo had a public feud sometime back, after Brymo accused Burna of being a song thief, claiming that he lacked originality and had a penchant for using other artists’ work without proper credit or royalties. Brymo’s allegations took a swipe at Burna Boy’s reputation, accusing him of not owning his musical success.
Burna Boy initially remained silent in response to Brymo’s accusations. However, he eventually broke his silence with a freestyle song, where he took a clear shot at Brymo, telling him that he fell off.
Days back, Brymo had debunked statements that he is proud. He stated that he would prefer going to hell than join Wizkid, Burnaboy, or Davido’s record label.
