Nigerian award-winning Afrobeat singer, Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy has revealed the shocking reason he turned down a $5 million deal in Dubai.
According to the Grammy winner, he turned down the lucrative offer to perform in the United Arab Emirates, UAE because he wouldn’t be allowed to smoke weed while there.
He noted how the Emirati law prohibits smoking in parks, beaches, and all public recreational areas in Dubai.
Burna added that he can’t go to any place where he would be restricted to smoke.
“Just now I turned down Dubai money, 5 million dollars na small thing cos me I no dey like to dey go where Dem no go gree allow me to smoke Igbo”.
His statement has sparked mixed reactions as many tried defending the singer’s choice.

Recall that some years back, Burna Boy had sparked reactions after he made a public statement on legalizing weed in Nigeria.
According to Burna Boy, hypocrisy is the reason why marijuana has not been legalized in Nigeria.
Burna Boy isn’t the only Nigerian artist addicted to smoking.
Embattled singer, Naira Marley had offered a prayer to God over his addiction to smoking.
The controversial singer, via his Twitter page, revealed that he doesn’t want to quit smoking as he pleaded with God to not allow him see anything that will make him stop smoking.
Also, Kizz Daniel had returned to his old habit of smoking which he had publicly denounced.
The singer who had openly admitted his addiction to smoking, as well as condemned the act and vowed to stop, has gone back to his old habit as he stated that it isn’t easy to leave it.
