Nollywood actress, Chioma Akpotha is marking the 10-year remembrance of her late mother.
In a lengthy post on her Instagram page, the movie star stated that she is trying to fight back tears as she remembers how her mother took her last breath in her arms 10 years back.
She admitted that her death still hurts her and she has never stopped wishing her mother was with her.
However, it doesn’t hurt much because the pain has become a part of her and more so a major part of her adulthood.
Omoni added that she is still struggling to fill the shoes her mother left for her.

Nnem Oma! Ada Ugo! Egoyibo! Ugomba! Mkparu! Nma! Aka n’esiki ora! Ochili o’zua! Oyoyo nnem!
Trying to fight back tears today as I remember how you took your last breath in my arms this day, 10 years ago. The downpour that Wednesday morning was not to be compared to the years my eyes and heart shed. But it was a sign to me that the heavens had welcomed you.
It still hurts but not as much because the pain has become a part of me and more so a major part of my adulthood. I am still struggling to fill the shoes you left for me even as I try to navigate life as a mother too.
I will never stop wishing that you would be here with me but I am also grateful for the light that you continue to shine down on us. Your memories are ever fresh in my heart even as I constantly draw strength from them.
Mother’s Day and your birthdays and the day you left us are always the hardest for me. But then again I see your smile and perseverance in Ogechukwu. Your wit in Tochukwu, your stubbornness, and drama in Ifeyimwa and Chigozie and they constantly warm my heart. You are still there with us Nma.
I MISS YOU SO MUCH. WE ALL MISS YOU SO MUCH!

Chioma Akpotha launches new restaurant to celebrate Mum’s 70th posthumous birthday
Years back, Chioma Akpotha launched a restaurant that she called, “UGOMBA’S KITCHEN”.
The then 39-year-old Nigerian celebrity took to her Instagram page to share throwback photos of her mother who would have been 70 years old but for her demise.
According to Chioma, the restaurant was being launched to celebrate her mother for her sacrifices and contributions to her life.
“My mum raised my siblings and me and sent us to school with the proceeds she got from the restaurant she ran and some other side hustle.
Today, my Mother, who sat and watched, would have been 70!
As a little girl, I had watched her toil day and night in sickness and in health.
When I grew up, I promised myself that I will not just make her proud but also wipe her tears and the memory of the pain she had endured… In that moment, when she took her last breath in my arms, I knew that I had made her proud. •••••••••••••••••
Today, I have a chance to do more.
So, in her memory, on this day the 28th of December 2019, I launch “UGOMBA’S KITCHEN”.
