Nigerian singer Davido took to his Instagram story to congratulate his co-nominee Tyla for winging the award category for Best African Music performance, which he was also nominated for. He penned down a simple message, stating that Tyla’s win was is a big one for Africa, and that she should keep soaring.
Recall that Kemi Filani earlier reported that Tyla had beat Davido, Burnaboy, Asake and Asake for the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys. This was Davido’s first nomination just like Tyla, but she beat him to it. Despite the fact that his hopes were dashed, Davido still took out time to celebrate Tyla’s win.
The Best African Music performance category was not Davido’s only loss at the Grammys 2024, as he lost two other categories which he was nominated for. Despite the gloomy state of Davido’s loss at the Grammys, it is important to note that his Grammy nomination was a big deal. Apart from that, Davido has an impressive award catalogue under his belt, ranging from the Headies Awards to other minor international awards.
