Special Spesh, the hypeman of music star, Davido has reacted to his loss at the Grammys Awards.
Kemi Filani reported that the 66th Academy Awards were held on Sunday, February 4th at the Crypto Com Arena, which saw Davido losing his 3 nominations.
Davido was nominated for Best Global Music Performance, Album of the Year, and Best African Music Performance, which he sadly lost.
Davido’s Unavailable, lost to fast-rising singer, Tyla, whose Water emerged as the Best African Music Performance.
Following this, Special Spesh took to his Instagram page to use Tyla’s song to throw shade at her. He stated that he wouldn’t give the power to dùmb Afrobeats or any Afro-fusion or anything African.
He noted how Americans always love to have a part in taking control when things start to take over or get massive attention.
Shading Water, he noted how a song about squirting down won over Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake.
“We won’t give you the power to dùmb Afrobeats down or Afro-fusion or anything African.
That’s (White) Americans problem! When things start to take over and get massive they always want a part, then try to have a say then try to control”.
Though he might have lost his Grammy win, Davido still has more reasons to be grateful, especially for the nomination.
Just a few days back, Kemi Filani reported that Davido had added another win to his numerous achievements with his feature on colleague, Kizz Daniel’s song, Twe Twe remix.
Not surprisingly, the song is already making waves and breaking records as it is now the fastest Afrobeats song to surpass 100,000 Shazams in 7days.
In October, Davido was honored by Atlanta and Georgia with a ‘Day’ dedicated to praising him. Atlanta had officially declared November 18th, 2023 as Davido’s Day, while Fulton County, Georgia has declared November 21st, 2023 as Davido Appreciation Day.
Also, Davido was recognized as an “Outstanding Georgia citizen by the Georgia State of Assembly.
Recently, Davido sent a message to his naysayers and those who underestimated him.
The Afrobeat singer, told his haters and critics never to play with God, as he listed out his wins, noting how people mocked him for not having a Grammy nomination and now he has it and much more.
