Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa has shared a deep message on being independent and single.
The movie star, who keeps her love life private, stated that she is currently independent because she takes responsibility for her life and refuses to play the blame game on anyone or make others her scapegoat for her failures. She stated that she doesn’t allow the culture or religion to define her.
According to her, just because she is a woman doesn’t mean she is less than a man and her skin color doesn’t make her any less beautiful. Dayo made it known that she is empowered to choose her companions, beliefs, system, and standards based on what she feels is right for her.
She noted how she can stand on her own if need be, but she doesn’t boast about it or make others feel small just because they can’t be independent.
Dayo, however, made it known that her being independent doesn’t mean she doesn’t need love, nor does she like going home alone, hates men, or can’t submit. She added that she wants to be cared for, and pampered by her partner and desires to have doors opened for her and to be treated to dinner, be protected and covered.
“I am independent because I take responsibility for my life. I refuse to play the blame game on anyone or make other people scapegoats for my failures. I do not allow the culture or religion to define me. Just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I am less than a man. Just because my skin may be darker or lighter than someone else’s doesn’t make me any less beautiful.
I am empowered to choose my companions, belief system & standards, based on what I feel is right for me. I can stand on my own if need be, but I do not boast about it or make others feel small just because they can’t. Being independent doesn’t mean I do not need love. It doesn’t mean I like going home alone. It doesn’t mean I hate men or that I won’t submit. It doesn’t mean I will stop being feminine, sexy & ladylike. I still want to be cared for & pampered by my partner.
I desire to have doors opened & be treated to dinner. I still want to be protected & covered with assurance that everything is going to be okay.

Months back, Dayo Amusa shared her thoughts on marriage, noting how many believe marriage will cure their loneliness, which leads to unrealistic expectations.
Preaching on self-love, she emphasized that marriage isn’t for everyone as it is a massive commitment and shouldn’t be rushed into.
Last two years, Dayo Amusa disclosed why she stayed in an abusive relationship that almost ruined her life. She revealed that it was hard to leave, as she was used to being a fixer, but eventually, she saved her life.
She disclosed that she was always attracting emotionally unavailable men, narcissists, drug abusers, soc!opaths, and more until she realized that the reason she was attracting those types of men was that she believed she could save them.
