Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola better known as DJ Cuppy has described 2023 as the worst year of her life.
While speaking at a recent event, she gave reasons why last year was her worst year, as she expressed regret at not turning down her fiance, Ryan Taylor.
She reemphasized that because she couldn’t say no to him, it made her year worse. She added that she couldn’t say no to opportunities that she should have said no to and didn’t say no to taking things.
“One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, I was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
It is no longer news that last year was a tough time for DJ Cuppy, who was set to walk down the aisle for the first time. Unfortunately, things didn’t go the way she wanted as she parted ways with her fiance over undisclosed reasons.
In November, which was supposed to be their anniversary month, she lamented over how she and Ryan had become strangers.
Finally opening up about her failed engagement while speaking on the Wimbiz stage, she noted how she was engaged in 2022 but now is single, a she went on to list out the things she failed at this year. However, her story is still happening and there is more to come for her.
Her ex on his part, revealed why he dumped her, stating that his exes are shit drivers, a statement which didn’t sit well with Cuppy. Hitting back, she posted a picture of herself enjoying a dumpling in a restaurant, with a caption stating that the only dumpling she’s getting is the one on her plate.
Following their split, Cuppy leaned on her family. She shared photos from her grandmother’s 80th birthday party while expressing how grateful she is to still have her grandparents around.
Recently, Cuppy had thrown some heavy shade her exes’ way, as she stated that she doesn’t run into most of her exes because they cannot afford to be in the same space that she is in.
Replying her, Ryan Taylor made her known that he is also a man of status as he reminded her that she can’t also run into him because she can’t afford to be in the same place with him.
Surprisingly, Soso Soberekon defended Cuppy as he called Ryan a poor man and ordered him to shut up.
