Nigerian On-Air personality Do2dtun has defended media personality and former Cool FM colleague Daddy Freeze amid his N5million adultery fine.
Kemi Filani reported that after three years of back and forth in court, a three-person panel of Justice Abubakar Talba, Danlami Senchi, and Hannatu Balogun dismissed Daddy Freeze’s appeal for lack of merit and had upholded his N5million adultery fine. The media personality was dragged to court by his wife’s ex-husband for adultery and has been ordered to pay him N5million as compensation.
Earlier on, Do2dtun had defended Daddy Freeze on Twitter as he noted how people judge him based on their perception of him and not because they know him. He revealed that his biggest fear for Daddy Freeze was that he would never find love again after what he went through, but he did with his now wife.
Daddy Freeze, who couldn’t believe his eyes, reposted Do2dtun’s support for him on his Instagram page as he questioned why he was just seeing this. He revealed that the OAP knew his story as they were colleagues, neighbours and brothers.
Further, taking to his comment section, Do2dtun called out Nigerians for their hypocrisy as he noted how the case would have been different if the man had moved on. Using himself as an example, he noted how his own divorce case is still in court and questioned if people expect him not to move on since he is sure his ex-wife has moved on with someone else.
“Freeze, you really get time, and I have read so many stuff, and it’s baffling. Wait, so as I dey like this now, wey court hasn’t decided anything for over 3 years, the person abandoned the case, disappeared, very póor system just as what happened in Freeze’s case and the person I marry have agreed to go with the divorce and doing him or her. Me and am not do again, carry pikin run, make I no move on with my life? We all are hypocrites in this country. These two hooked up after everything was already in court, and it’s okay to find love again. So, if it was a single lady supposed not going through a divorce, what would you say? You will say she committed what? It’s normal when it’s a man, abi? But not normal cos the two were married before? So, my ex-wife, for example, is somewhere doing her, but I should not cos the case is in court? Ori gbo gbo yin ti gbale”.
Recall that in 2021, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5m for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi. He was ordered to pay the money to Paul Odekina, who was married to Elechi at the time the adulterous act was committed.
Daddy Freeze, who wasn’t pleased with the court judgement, had approached the appellate court for redress. His main grounds of appeal were that Odekina didn’t attempt to serve him personally before applying for substituted service, which violated Order 7 Rule 2 of the Rules of the Trial Court.
Reacting to it in an Instagram live video, Daddy Freeze stated that he had no problem paying an N5million fine as his watches alone cost over N100million. He, however, made it known that he is innocent and will not lose. He claimed that the incident happened years ago when he was going through serious torment, and so was the lady, and they both linked up years later in Church.
