Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot is still at the peak of trolling as he reveals that he was never in support of the invasion of social media by the government.

In his opinion, Nigerian youths have abused social media, and the government needs to do something about it. He added that social media has a more negative than positive impact because the youths drag and insult the government.
However, there was an immediate ban on the micro-blogging app Twitter after the government felt threatened by youths calling for justice after the Endsars protest and the Lekki tollgate massacre in October 2020.
Following the recent panel report on the Lekki tollgate massacre, the youths came out of their shells as they reminded the government of how they had claimed the brutal event was falsely distributed on social media.
Of course, Desmond Elliot was not left out, as some Nigerians claimed he contributed to the whole situation by supporting the regulation of social media bills at the Lagos state house of assembly and referring youths as children for speaking up for justice for those massacred on social media.
In an interview with TVC, Desmond disclosed he never supported the influx of social media, adding that every citizen has the right to freedom of speech constitutionally, but spreading false rumours that would harm any other citizen is what he was against.
As expected, many Nigerians have attacked the actor for his comment.
