The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to Nigerians using crossdresser, Bobrisky as a case study.
The commission, via its micro-blogging platform Twitter now known as X, warned Nigerians against abusing the Naira note, telling citizens to ask Bobrisky for update.
The commission added that if preaching wouldn’t send the message, conviction would. It further added that when one fails to change his or her ways with the naira abuse and the commission arrests them, there wouldn’t be room for excuses.
“Say no to abuse of the Naira.
If preaching will not send the message, a conviction will.
Na our Naira you dey abuse. Change your ways, you refuse. When the EFCC comes to accuse, know say you no go get Excuse.
Ask Bob for the update to Use”.
Kemi Filani reported early this month that the crossdresser was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission over alleged currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira. He had pleaded guilty in court and had pleaded with the judge to give him another chance, promising to make good use of his platform to inform and educate his followers about spraying money as he begged the judge to tamper justice with Mercy. Unfortunately, the judge didn’t excuse his bad behavior.
On Friday, April 12th, the crossdresser was sentenced to jail for 6 months without an option of a fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos. Following his sentencing, EFCC shared photos of him leaving the court with his bags as he headed to the Ikoyi Correctional Center where he would be spending the next 6 months.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) had said that the crossdresser would be kept in the male section of its custodian facility to avoid sexual assault. The spokesperson noted how the crossdresser identified himself as a male when being questioned in court, which influenced their decision to place him in a male-designated facility.
Reacting to his sentencing, Media personality, Osi Suave had blasted celebrities for shunning Bobrisky during his trying times.
He noted how Bob always showed up for people, yet no one could show up for him in court, and were all using the famous internet sensation for clouts.
Since his arrest, the likes of Charly Boy, Paulo Okoye, Eniola Ajao, Simi Gold, James Brown, and Yomi Fabiyi, have publicly shown support for him.
