Nollywood actress and upcoming box office filmmaker, Eniola Ajao had cried out to Nigerians to support her new project.
The movie star, who angered many when she premiered her movie and awarded crossdresser, Bobrisky the Best Dressed Female is feeling the negative impact it has had on her brand.
Taking to TikTok live, Eniola begged Nigerians to watch her movie. She stated that she didn’t want to be in debt as she didn’t have anything and had sold off her properties to finance the project.
Eniola noted how she isn’t one to chase clout or pull stunts, unfortunately, because of her film, which she had to promote, she pulled a stunt using Bobrisky.
“Tell everybody to go out for me, don’t let me be in debt, I don’t have anything. All I had was what I put into this project. Please support me in the name of God, I don’t come out to do clout or stunt. It’s because of this film, I was thinking of how I will sell the film, so I used Bobrisky. I don’t want to dwell too much on that, I plead with Nigerians in the name of God, help me go out. This is a film that the whole industry came out to watch and they gave good reviews. It’s a film that I can be boastful about and walk with my heads up”.
Kemi Filani reported that the movie star sparked tons of backlash after she declared Bobrisky, a Nigerian crossdresser, the Best Dressed Female at her movie premiere.
In an interview with Arise News TV, Eniola admitted that it was a deliberate action to pick Bobrisky as the winner as it was all a publicity stunt and marketing strategy to promote her movie. She noted how the crossdresser is a controversial person, hence, her decision to award him the Best Dressed Female to generate more buzz for her project.
She noted how people are dragging Femi Adebayo, who was oblivious to her schemes and was only trying to support her by being the presenter of the night.
Making amends, Eniola Ajao revealed that she would be awarding two attendees at her movie premiere, Bose Alao and another as Best Dressed Female.
She made this known in a lengthy post on her Instagram page, as she tendered a deep apology to the Muslim community, women, Dayo Amusa, Femi Adebayo, and his wife and Bobrisky who were all affected by the scandal. She added that she would be gifting Bose Alao and the other lady a million each.
Recall that Eniola revealed how she sold her properties to bring the movie to life. She disclosed that she spent over N200 million on the project because it is dear to her heart.
During the premiere of her movie, a young man recounted the sacrifice made by Eniola Ajao on the project to the guests at the event.
In the clip, the man claimed that the actress sold some properties including land, cars, and gold just to ensure that the project saw the light of day. He said that Ajao was discouraged at a point that she wanted to give up even though she had sold so many things.
