Big Brother Naija reality star Erica Nlewedim has responded to a fan of hers who slammed her for taking her formerly absentee father to a premiere.
Refreshing your memory, during her time in the BBNaija house, Erica revealed that she was singlehandedly raised by her mother. She stated that she later found her dad with the help of social media but their relationship was strained. However, after appearing on the reality show, her father became a part of her life and called her the ‘Most Beautiful Girl in Africa’ in 2020.
Many were left baffled when she attended the movie premiere of Kiekie’s Unscripted Experience show with her father. The reality star had even shared a clip of her and her dad at the event on her social media pages.
This didn’t sit well with a fan of hers who noted how her father was absent while she was growing up, yet he is the one she is taking to events rather than her mother, who raised her.

Responding to the fan, Erica noted how she has been posting her mother throughout the holidays and the only time she is posting her dad, she is getting dragged. She questioned if the fan expected her to be a bitter witch holding grudges till he died, and she ended up living with regret.
“There’s always one fool like I’ve not been posting my mom all the holidays, the one time I post my dad, I’m male-centered, left to you, I’ll be a bitter witch holding grudges till he dies, and then I’ll say had I known! I think your parents did a poor job because look at how you think! Eww!”.
Erica isn’t the only celebrity who has a strained relationship with one of her parents. Late last year, veteran actress Jumoke George recounted how she was rejected by her parents. She revealed that her decision to stay with her father rather than her mother after their divorce led her mother to abandon her, and her father’s new wife made her relationship with her father strained.
In 2023, actor Charles Inojie revealed that his mother abandoned him at just 8 months when she parted ways with his father. To worsen things, his father remarried and prioritized his second wife above him, which made his stepmother maltreat him. He recounted how his stepmother influenced his father not to cater for him as she told him to wait till her child grew up so they could attend university together.
Similarly, Bimbo Ademoye had opened up in an interview, on how her mother abandoned her when she was two. She stated that she has, however, tried building a relationship with her and paying her mother’s bills.
Crossdresser, James Brown, while praising his grandmother in an Instagram post, recounted the support and love she gave him despite being abandoned by his mum two days after he was born. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, he claimed his mother was trying to connect with him, but he cut ties with her.
