Nollywood actress Esther Ene has sent a message to parents ahead of school resumption.
Taking to her Instagram page, she listed what parents should teach their children. In the lengthy post, she told them to sit with their children and explain there’s never a reason to make fun of others. She admonished them to teach their children that there’s nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes or clothes every day, teach them not to exclude anyone for being different, explain to them that bullying hurts and not to spread negativity.
She ended her message by saying it all begins at home.
“School is almost starting and some started already. I want to ask you a favour… Sit with your child /children for 5 minutes and explain that there’s never a reason to make fun of anyone for their height, their weight, their skin tone, their accent, their home life or, the things they enjoy or even how their performance in school is.
Explain to them that there’s nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes or wearing one cloth every day.
Explain to them that a used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one.
Teach them not to exclude anyone for “being different.”
Explain to them that teasing and b****ying hurts and that school is for going to
LEARN, NOT to compete or spread negativity.
Remind them some kids don’t go home to loving families so it’s important to be kind at all times.
It all starts at home!”.
A few weeks back, Actress Bimbo Ademoye had some concerns to get off her chest, and it was concerning parenting. She admonished parents to be watchful and present with their kids as she noted how some parents do not know what their kids watch or hear.
Similarly, Big Brother Naija personality Queen Mercy Atang had advised parents, advising them to do better in training their children well so that they do not end up bullying other petioles children. She also warned parent to stop being wicked to the people around them because their children were watching and might act out the same to others below them.
Meanwhile, actress Mary Njoku lambasted those who love to give opinions to parents on how to raise their children. She stated that if one doesn’t have a child or doesn’t have full responsibility for a child, they shouldn’t dish out advice to birth parents on how to raise one, as she noted how parenting is practical and not theory.
