In a recent message, comedian AY Makun has slammed people who are consistently soliciting for money especially in the current precarious tiems.
“I am just tempted to say everybody asking me for money this period does not have conscience or lacks the fear of God.” The comedian, known for his wit and humor, hinted that there’s a deeper reason behind this statement.
This proclamation comes in the aftermath of a tragic incident a few months ago when AY and his wife faced the destruction of their beautiful home on Lagos Island, where it was razed to the ground by a fire outbreak while they were on vacation with their children. The video of their burning house went viral, which shows the destruction of roofs and other important properties. Despite this setback, AY expressed his disappointment online but found solace in the fact that no lives were lost, hanging on the importance of family.
Speculation arises that the recent loss of his home might be influencing AY’s reluctance to entertain any financial requests during this period.
Also recall that i the early months of 2023, the feud between AY and fellow comedian BasketMouth had reached a new high. In a revealing interview with Chude in March 2023, AY recounted an incident early in his career when BasketMouth invited him to perform at a comedy show.
Allegedly, after the show, BasketMouth refused to pay AY the agreed-upon 30,000 Naira fee, even though the organizers had made payments to him. This dispute strained their professional relationship, leading to public exchanges, with BasketMouth vowing never to respond or speak to AY again.
However, in a surprising turn of events this October, BasketMouth made a U-turn and publicly apologized to AY. In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian expressed genuine remorse for any hurt caused within the industry, signaling a desire for peace in his life.
