Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola couldn’t withhold her tears as she visited the home of late veteran Charles Olumo, better known as Agbako.
Kemi Filani reported on Thursday that Nollywood had announced the demise of the veteran actor. The Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN announced his demise through the page of its president, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin. Mr Latin, on behalf of the group, said the veteran died on Thursday and was aged 101.
Foluke, via her Instagram page, had shared a video of her visiting the late actor’s house. In the video, the movie star was captured shedding tears as she mingled with his family. Sharing the video, Foluke described Agbako as a rare gem as she revealed that she would surely miss him.
“RiIP to my rare gem.
I will surely miss u baami”.
Just months before his death, Kunle Afod had been left in awe after visiting the actor. Taking to his Instagram page to share a video of his visit to the actor, he revealed that he visited to check up on the veteran, who was in good spirits, as he was seen jumping as he showed Kunle how agile he was.
Impressed, Kunle stated that the veteran was still strong and healthy, despite his age, as he prayed that he experience such grace.
Recall that when the late actor turned 100 last year, Biola Bayo and lovers of the actor had surprised him on his birthday. She revealed that she had sent her widow’s mite to the veteran and urged her fans to do the same and celebrate him while he is still alive.
Muyiwa Ademola, on his part, made an urgent demand of the Guinness World Records to issue a certificate to Charles Olumo.
To mark his milestone, the Theatre Arts and Motions Pictures Practitioners in Nigeria (TAMPAN) celebrated him at a star-studded party in Abeokuta. Celebrities like Toyosi Adesanya, Odunlade Adekola, Lere Paimo, Rose Odika, Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr Latin, Tunde Kelani, Yemi Solade and a host of others were in attendance.
Over the years, Foluke Daramola has become a mouthpiece for ailing veterans, as she loves to offer support to ailing veterans. In December of last year, following the death of veteran Dejumo Lewis, Foluke had written an open letter to President Tinubu and the Governor of Lagos State, on the poor state of Nollywood actors. She noted how many veteran actors suffer, especially health-wise, and have no help. Foluke urged the president to offer a better arrangement for the veterans and to set up a trust fund for the veterans and provide little things for them that they would appreciate for the rest of their lives.
In August, Foluke Daramola expressed heartbreak over the death of Nollywood production manager Yusuf Olorungbebe. Foluke took to her Instagram page to announce the actor’s demise. She appreciated the public’s support as she stated that the actor had submitted to God’s will.
