Not much has been heard of Veteran film maker, Funke Akindele’s ex-husband, Alhaji Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof who has been off the media scene for years, however, new reports say he is set to attain yet another height in politics
Sources have it that the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transporter Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo has revealed his support for Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof who is the son of the former Iyaloja of Oshodi, Alhaja Taiwo Almaroof, as the next Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government.
Revealing that though nothing is certain yet as elections into the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos are due in 2021, a member of the party’s executive in Oshodi, who prefers to remain anonymous, said whoever is going to emerge as the party’s candidate in the local government election must come through a popular support as there won’t be imposition.
In his words;
There is no crime in pushing for support, but what I know is that our State Chairman, Tunde Balogun, is a man of integrity and he won’t allow any imposition. There are many aspirants but the primaries will determine”.
It may be recalled that MC Oluomo and Almaroof (who made headlines for reportedly abusing Funke Akindele verbally and emotionally) were arch rivals before Oloyede joined APC. Oluomo’s decision to support Almaroof’s ambition follows series of reconciliation meeting between them. The meetings were brokered by community and party leaders in Oshodi.
There might be light at the end of the tunnel for Almaroof, an estate developer, who reportedly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC in 2015, contested twice for House of Representatives seat for Oshodi Constituency 1 in 2003 and 2007 as MC Oluomo is believed to be the political leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi and has the ears of the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.
