Award-winning singer, Wizkid has gained one active supporter, in the person of controversial actor, Uche Maduagwu, following his comment about Nigerian rappers.
Kemi Filani News reported that in a recent interview with 10 magazines, Wizkid declared the Afrobeat genre of music as the new pop, adding that the rap genre of music is dead.
Reacting to the statement which has caused an uproar among singers and fans, Uche Maduagwu showed his support for Wizkid.
Maduagwu asserted that Wizkid is hundred percent right about his statement. He said those who are not happy about Wizkids’s statement do not like the truth.
He further stated that Rap is not Nigeria’s culture, however, Afro beats and other genres of music are.
Uche Maduagwu slams colleague, Uche Ogbodo
Uche Maduagwu took his support for Wizkid a step further by slamming his colleague and name-sake, Uche Ogbodo.
Kemi Filani News reported hours ago that Uche Ogbodo took a swipe at Wizkid for dissing the rap industry. She questioned how Wizkid would say such about his people.
She further questioned the native doctor who enchanted Nigerians to spite each other. Uche noted how his statement was insensitive and selfish.
According to Maduagwu, his colleague, Uche Ogbodo doesn’t have the right to talk to Wizkid because he is not responsible for her confused state of dating and having a baby with a younger man. He also slammed her for not being loyal because she is two-faced with May Yul Edochi and her junior wife, Judy Austin,
The self-acclaimed influencer also slammed Ycee and M. Abaga.
MI Abaga slams Wizkid
Kemi Filani News recalls that veteran rapper, MI Abaga also countered Wizkid‘s comments about rap music and went ahead to list names of Nigerian rap singers such as Vector, A.Q, Falz, Ladipoe, Blaqbonez, Ice Prince, Ajebo Hustlers and other singers who are currently the rave of the moment while also noting that the genre is on ‘the rise.’
The 41-year-old rapper wrote on Twitter: “Aq – winning. SDC – winning. Falz – winning. M – I de try. VEC – winning. Poe – winning. Odumodu- winning. Yp – winning.
“BlaqBonez – winning. Dan dizzy – winning. Ajebo hustlers – winning. Ice – winning. etc etc etc… point is that rap is on the rise!”.
He added, “The energy around HIP-HOP right now feels right.. I know most rappers are still not the most popular yet.. but right now is the time for us to focus on the craft.. just keep getting better.. this year we did so well as a genre and next year we grow!!!!”
Ycee faults Wizkid’s comment
Hours ago, Ycee slammed Wizkid for taking a shot at Nigerian rappers and the rap industry.
Expressing his disappointment at the award-winning singer, he noted how rappers work so hard in an industry that doesn’t favour them.
He pointed out how many rappers have nothing and lack funding, and support.
Taking a dig at Wizkid, who was once a rapper, he stated that failed rappers are always the ones who have the most to say about the genre.
