Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has promised to financially support his colleague, Kenneth Aguba who is reportedly homeless.
“This one na small matter. Me I don’t believe in too much talk or time wasting. Just get him to do a short video calling out his account details and post online. We’ll do crowd funding for him. He’ll never lack anything again. Anyone that can reach Aguba, should please do. This no be small matter,” he wrote.
Edochie’s pledge comes after Kemi Filani News reported that the Veteran actor is homeless.
The news making rounds is that the actor who has starred in several Nollywood movies doesn’t have a home of his own. The veteran was seen in pictures going viral sitting in a shabbily environment. A well meaning Nigerian who shared photos of him announced that the actor currently has no home and a place to stay. The actor was seen having his lunch with him. Taking to comment section, Nigerians lambasted the actors guild of Nigeria and question their purpose of existence.
While the AGN is yet to react to Aguba’s viral photos, its national president, Emeka Rollas has made recent moves to address crowdfunding for veterans in distress.
Last month, the Guild introduced a Trust fund and HMO plan to aid members with health crisis. The Guild unveiled the fund committee led by veteran actress Joke Silva in a statement shared via its president Emeka Rollas.
“We also set up the AGN Trust Fund to help put a stop to the usual alms begging to raise funds to support our members in health crises. This was also to discourage the reprihensible manner some persons publicly gifts nollywood sick members financial aid. We consider these methods very embassing for an Industry that contributes so much to the country’s GDP,” an excerpt of the statement reads.
“To make these supports more civil, donors can mention specific person’s they wish to medically assist whilst depositing money to the Trust Fund account. The Trust Fund is in the hands of trusted Committee headed by Veteran Actor, Joke Silva
