Actress and mum of four, Mercy Johnson has disclosed how Veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, advised her years ago to stop indecent dressing.
While reflecting on the past during her chat with the thespian on this week’s edition of her weekly cook show, Mercy’s Menu, the actress said “Do you remember when you were younger before you got married when I told you that the photos you take today, your children will see them tomorrow and immediately know the kind of lifestyle you lived”
And Mercy Johnson acknowledged the statement saying “Yes you did, you told me Mercy dress properly, you will have kids and when they grow up, they will ask you, why are you looking this way, yes I remember, I’m lucky but I still learned the hard way really”
Also during their conversation, Patience Ozokwor revealed why she didn’t marry after she lost her husband years ago
“I wanted to remarry but my kids had already come of age and they pleaded with me not to marry another man and they promised they will be my husband. They asked me to stay single for them so their friends will not laugh at them that at their age their mum remarried and I understood them, though it was selfish of them, i paid a huge sacrifice for them, no sacrifice is too huge for family.”
Patience Ozokwor further spilled why she stopped wearing jewelry and makeup.
“It was my son God used for me, he had a dream twice of me with my natural face and hair on and God told him, he preferred me looking that way than when i use make up and accessories, by the third time he had the dream, i just knew this is it, i had to stop “
Kemi FIlani recalls that years back, precisely in 2010, Mercy Johnson and Patience Ozokwor had a clash over her way of dressing.
In a telephone interview, Mercy recounted her side of the story to NET. She noted that Patience Ozokwor was given revealing clothe to wear at that location, apparently to depict a character in the movie that was in the making and Patience allegedly refused the outfit, stating that she is not Mercy Johnson, not an ‘ashawo’.
“I’m not a prostitute. I don’t like the name. I told her I didn’t like it”, Mercy told NET. According to her, the faceoff was escalated when Mama Gee refused to stop calling her by an unpleasant name.

Meanwhile, Mercy Johnson has clarified the misinterpretation regarding the state of her health.
Kemi Filani reported that Mercy Johnson opened up during one of the editions of her TV Show, Mercy’s Menu with Joke Silva that she had a cancer health scare and as a result, she was placed on life medication.
She said, “I had a scare. I had a cancer scare. It was like a journey for us because of the kids. My last born was 6 months at that time. We had to understand that this is our new reality. Let’s get the surgery done. They said I was going to be on medication for the rest of my life. It was a reality that we had to sit down”.
However, the short clip from Mercy Johnson’s programme that made rounds on the internet made her fans misinterpret her health condition as she has been receiving calls and messages regarding her condition.

Taking to her Instagram page, the mother of four addressed the issue. She noted in the video of her public service announcement that people misinterpreted her condition and urged them to watch the full clip from the programme episode she talked about her health in order to understand her point.
She said: “Hi guys! ok so first of all I must thank you so much for all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers, thank you, I do appreciate it so much but I DO NOT HAVE CANCER!
“I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Mercy’s Menu has been flying around and I think it was cut. They cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare means that I have this sweeping on my neck (shows her neck), You can see the line there and my doctor felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid, I am perfectly okay.
“Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages, all these phones have been buzzing like crazy, I am perfectly fine and I DO NOT HAVE CANCER. I’M PERFECTLY OKAY. So thank you so much for checking up on me, thank you for all the messages. Go back and watch the clip, it was completely misunderstood, I’m fine!

Captioning her post, She wrote: “So a little PSA! I’m okay guys. Thanks for all the calls and DMs I don’t take your love for granted!”.
