Nollywood actress and movie producer, Ini Edo has revealed why she is still single at 41.
The movie star, in an interview with Toke Makinwa on her podcast, Toke Moments, said that she is still single because she wants to be with someone who loves her. Ini made it known that she isn’t looking for too much in a guy, as she is searching for a man who would respect and protect her.
According to her, if a man cannot give her that protective energy and respects her, she can’t be with that man. Ini Edo clarified that it isn’t that she doesn’t see love, but loving somebody and being loved are two different things as you can love someone but aren’t ready to be committed to them.
Ini made it clear that it isn’t about having money but about how you are able to live and manage situations.
“I am still single because I just want somebody that would really love me. That’s all. I’m not asking for too much.
“Not like I don’t see love. Loving somebody and being loved are two different things. You can love someone but you are not ready to be committed. Maybe this is why I’m still single: I can’t be in a toxic relationship.
If you cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you… I can not be with a man that I don’t respect. If you can not earn my respect, then we cannot be together. Because what’s the point? When it gets to the point when I start to disrespect you, that means you have brought yourself down to a point where I begin to talk back at you. Sometimes, it’s not even about having money. It’s about how you are able to love and manage situations and the people around you. Kindness!”.
Recall that Ini Edo was once married to Edo businessman, Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, but the marriage hit the rock in 2014. The mother of one has since welcomed a child through surrogacy.
Speaking about her crashed marriage, the mother of one revealed that she regretted getting married because it wasn’t the right move to make.
Despite her failed marriage, Ini Edo is still hoping to get married again whenever she meets the right person.
On why she chose surrogacy, Ini Edo stated that she had several miscarriages which made her give up on having her child herself.
Since she didn’t have a husband, she decided on surrogacy since she was in dire need of a child.
In 2021, Ini Edo opened up about having a baby through surrogacy and how beautiful it feels to be a mother, as she confirmed the news of her baby, stating the eggs belong to her; hence genetically, the baby is her blood.
However, Ini Edo failed to disclose the sperm donor stating that her baby’s peace of mind is paramount to her, and it is an incredible feeling being a mother.
Speaking on motherhood, she described it as an awesome feeling.
