Dorcas Fapson, a Nigerian actress has said she feels misunderstood in Nigeria. The London born Nigerian actress who has been romantically linked with her colleague, Timini Egbuson made this known as a guest on the Tea with Taymesan podcast.
‘I feel misunderstood, not just in Nigeria, but predominantly in Nigeria for so many reasons. People don’t understand the type of person I am, being an outgoing person, being outspoken. I am very black and white. If I am happy, I am happy. If I am sad, I am sad. I don’t form, I don’t know how to be fake. I like when people are real with me.I appreciate honesty, If I have pissed you off tell me.Don’t smile with me and go and ‘yab’ me behind. I feel like a lot of people do that in Nigeria and I am not like that”.
Fapson also recounted how her parents separated and the impact it had on her life.
“For a long time I resented my dad a lot because my mother died when I was fourteen.When I got sent to Nigeria when I was thirteen, I saw her once and we had like this huge argument .I was really mad at her, I was an angry teenager. I asked her ‘What did I do to you? I didn’t ask to be born’. It was a huge fight at one hotel in Ikeja I will never forget. And then the next time I saw her she was dead. After her death, I found out that she tried everything to get me and my brother. She died giving birth. I remember her sister was saying that it was us that caused her death because she wanted us so bad and she tried to have another baby to replace us. After she died, I found out that she built a school and put it in my name”.
