Reality television star Mercy Eke has been inconsolable ever since Heritage Bank shut down.
She took to the X app to lament and talk about her situation when a concerned fan asked her about it.
Mercy Eke started out by saying that she has above one-hundred-million Naira in her Heritage Bank account.
She went on to say that she doesn’t know how to react to the news, and that she’s hoping for the best.
Another fan of hers tried to lift her hopes up, stating that CBN said they would attend to people with five million Naira or lower before they attend to other people that had more.
Mercy Eke responded by insinuating that only five-million Naira would be paid to them in the end.
Going forward, another fan asked Mercy Eke why she opened an account with Heritage Bank in the first place. She responded by saying that it was a requirement during her set in the BBNaija house, because that was where their monies would be paid after the show.
Mercy Eke said that she went ahead and funded the account, and now she’s full of regrets.
With the possibility of a consolation in mind, one of Mercy Eke’s fans said that the National Deposit Insurance Company (NDIC) was willing to pay customers that had accounts with the bank.
Mercy Eke responded by attaching a circular from the Central Bank of Nigeria, where they said they would pay only five-million Naira to customers that had more than the said amount in their accounts. However, the balance would only be paid upon the realization of the Bank’s assets.
Another fan questioned Mercy Eke about what her bank manager was saying about the situation. She replied by saying that her account manager lured her into placing her money in a fixed deposit account, despite the fact that she knew the bank had issues.
