Aminat Omowunmi Yekini, the wife of Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, better known as Itele, has opened up about her marriage.
In an interview with his colleague, Bimpe Akintunde, for her Talk show Iriri Mi, she revealed that she has been with the actor for close to 10 years, and they met when he had nothing. She recalled how her friends would mock her because of the car he was using and noted how she stood by him because she loved him and saw his attitude and behavior.
She praised the Yoruba actor for having the feat of God, which keeps him grounded in time and from going astray. Aminat said anytime Itele wants to do something unholy and he remembers God would be angry with him for doing such, he would halt it.
Aminat admitted that at the beginning, it was difficult for her to keep up with it, especially with his constant traveling. But, with time, she got used to it and now wishes he was traveling more.
“It’s been almost 10 years since we have been together.
It is by the grace of God, I keep my husband from being deceitful. Ibrahim is the kind of person who has a fear of God. So he doesn’t get involved in scamming girls.
When I met Itele, things weren’t rosy for him. Even with that, I stood by his side because I love him, and though I always said I wouldn’t marry a celebrity, I saw his attitude and behavior and saw he has a fear of God. If he wants to do something and remembers God would be angry with him for doing such, he would put a stop to it.
When we first started dating, it was difficult for me with his constant traveling for movie locations, and we would fight over it, but with time, I got used to it. I just wish he would leave.
To give him peace of mind, I overlook his relationship with some of his female fans.
I was very pompous in school, and my friends would laugh at me because of the car he was always using to pick me up, but I didn’t bother because I knew where I was going to”.
Omowunmi has no doubt been supportive of her husband and his career. Last year when he lost his AMVCA award, she had consoled him as she noted how every win is a win for them. She stated that for him to be among the nominees meant he was doing something good and added that he would remain her winner for life.
In better news, in February of 2024, the makeover artiste unveiled her multimillion-dollar project, a beauty store. Aminat stated that she had always dreamt of having a bigger space where she could showcase her empire and God had made it a reality for her. She appreciated Itele for his contribution to the project and noted how his financial support and words of encouragement made it possible for her.
