Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has vowed never to be silenced amidst threats from the leadership of the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) to frustrate her in the Nollywood industry.
The leadership of TAMPAN threatened to frustrate Iyabo Ojo and her colleague Nkechi Blessing out of the Nollywood industry. It also barred directors in the association from working with the Nollywood stars.
Kemifilani News recalls that both actresses have consistently on social media openly condemn the conduct of their colleague, Baba Ijesha, alleged of defiling the foster daughter of Nigerian comedienne, Princess.
They have clashed with some TAMPAN members, such as Yomi Fabiyi, Lege Maimi, who kicked against them for openly condemning Baba Ijesha.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, June 27, veteran actor Jide Kosoko said that even though Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing are not registered members of TAMPAN, the association would not entertain any form of disrespect or watch them drag the association in the mud.
Kosoko said the association is aware of the derogatory statements made by Iyabo Ojo against the Association and the industry as a whole, noting that they will not take further insults.
He noted that both actresses are not members of the association but can frustrate them out of the industry if they continue to constitute a ‘nuisance’ on social media.
In a post shared on Instagram, Iyabo Ojo said the popular cliché that ‘Silence is Golden’ is the major reason that many girls and boys get molested, raped, abused and are afraid to speak up because of fear of being bullied by the same society that is meant to protect them.
While reiterating that silence is not golden in Nigeria, Iyabo Ojo said she can never be silenced and would not stop speaking against child molestation or abuse.
She wrote: Silence is golden is why a lot of our girl or boy gets abused, molested or raped daily and yet they’re afraid to speak Speak up…because they will be bullied to silence by the same society meant to protect them… Silence ain’t golden in Nigeria. I can never be silenced, know that & know God. Periodt.
