Nollywood actor, Jide Awobona is currently mourning the death of a loved one.
Taking to his Instagram page, Jide Awobona revealed that he has lost a close friend of his, Owolabi.
According to him, the deceased had gone to the saloon to have his hair cut and he had promised to call Jide Awobona the next day. Unfortunately, he didn’t live to see the next day as he went to bed and never woke up.
Questioning his death, a heartbroken Jide noted how he wouldn’t see him ever again. He added that he has been trying to act like nothing happened, but it’s hard.
“OWOLABI WHY?
Been trying to act like nothing happened, but it’s hard.
So I won’t see you again as promised. Just yesterday you were at the station to Barb your her, saw my brother and kids, talked about me, sure you had it in mind to calm me this morning. Just last night you had dinner with your wife and beautiful daughter. Had a shower, and went to bed… OWOLABI WHY?”.
Actress Gbemi Anjola is dead
Two months ago, the Yoruba movie industry was thrown into mourning following the loss of their colleague.
Upcoming actress, Gbemi Anjola was reported dead on Friday, the 24th of March, 2023, after a prolonged battle with ovarian cancer.
Gbemi was diagnosed with the ailment in 2021. As a result of this, she traveled to Dubai, UAE for chemotherapy which lasted about 6 months.
After her medical treatment in Dubai, she came back to Nigeria cancer-free. On Friday, the 25th of March, 2023, the actress complained of memory loss and headache.
She was rushed to the hospital, but, unfortunately, Gbemi was pronounced dead.
The tragic news was shared by the late actor’s colleagues, Itele and Zainab Balogun who mourned her on their Instagram pages.
Many others had also taken to their respective pages to bade her goodnight.
A few days after her death, the actress was laid to rest.
In videos captured online, everyone present at the funeral wore a solemn look as they bade the movie star goodnight.

Last year June, Jide Awobona joined his colleagues to mourn the untimely death of movie maker, Osmond Gbadebo.
Veteran actress, Fausat Balogun announced the death of Osmond Gbadebo who lost his life to the cold hands of death on Monday, May 30th.
Grieving over his painful exit, Jide Awobona who described the prolific filmmaker as a warrior said Osmond was recuperating and regaining his weight before he died.
He also recounted how he always asked the ailing actor if he has fully recovered from his ailment, and Osmond always affirmed that he is fine.
Jide Awobona went on to pray to God to forgive him of his sins and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
