It’s been a week since social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse better known as Very Dark Man was locked up in detention in Abuja and he is yet to secure bail.
Weighing into it, media personality, Kelly Hassino has revealed why the activist is still locked up despite having friends like Davido, Cubana Chief Priest, Tunde Ednut, and more as friends. In a lengthy post on his Instagram page, he stated that some powers at the top are currently against him.
According to him, despite Very Dark Man meeting his bail conditions and top celebrities trying to wade into it, powers above theirs are reversing his release.
Kelly Hassino who claims that VDM doesn’t live far from where he lives, added that no protest or calls for his release can save him because of the nature of people against him.
“There’s rumours of Very Dark Man being released but I can tell you authoritatively that he hasn’t been released.
I’m privy to some information about the details of his case and I can tell you that he may not be released anytime soon due to the powers against him.
Despite meeting his bail condition and top celebrities trying to wade into his matter to influence his release, but in government, power pass power, and some of the most powerful people with raw and naked powers are people you haven’t even heard their names before or seen on television.
Very Dark Man doesn’t live far from where I live. I got to know his “one-room” house where he makes all those content and I was surprised it’s close to mine. About 10 minutes drive.
No amount of protest or calls for his release can save him seeing the nature of the mentality of the people against him. They would rather the country burn down than not satisfy their desires but we’ll keep trying hopefully they hear. I do this because I understand I could be arrested too someday and Very Dark Man is the kind of guy to stand up for one”.
Refreshing your memory, Very Dark Man was arrested on Friday for cyberbullying and a threat to life. The threat to life stemmed from him claiming that Tonto Dikeh co-runs the popular anonymous blog, Gistlover, which has been bringing people down.
He was supposed to be released from detention on Monday but couldn’t meet up with his heavy bail condition. Speaking out, his lawyer expressed belief that the police would be professional enough to release him on bail. However, if they fail to do so, the law will take its due course.
His lawyer revealed those behind the arrest which include actresses Tonto Dikeh, Iyabo Ojo, and singer, Samklef, whom he has had beef with in the past few months.
On Wednesday night, musical artist Samklef revealed that Very Dark Man was going to sleep inside the cell for one more night.
He expressed that while Very Darkman was supposed to be released on Tuesday because blogger Tunde Ednut had gone to his social media page to post about the release, it would be delayed. He hinted at the fact that the actions by Tunde Ednut may have prompted higher authorities to decide that Very Darkman would stay one more night in a cell, as he advised him not to brag next time.
He further went on to namedrop Tunde Ednut, Davido, Seun Kuti and hinted at Don Jazzy being the main people who were trying to champion the release of Very Darkman.
