Almost a year after his movie, Anikulapo was rejected by Oscars, Kunle Afolayan has gotten an invitation to join its academy members.
The movie producer cum actor alongside Richard Mofe Damijo, Shola Dada, Jade Osiberu, and CJ ‘Fiery’ Obasi has scored an invite.
Sharing the good news on his Instagram page, Kunle Afolayan expressed gratitude for the invitation.
He noted how it is another opportunity for him to serve.
“Another opportunity to serve. Shola Dada the writer of Roti and Anikulapo the movie and the forthcoming series is also a new member.
Thanks for the invitation”.
Oscars reject Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo movie
Recall that in October, Kunle Afolayan’s newly released movie, Anikulapo was disqualified from the nomination list of the Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars.
Despite the global reception that Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo had received, the Academy Awards didn’t deem it worthy to make its nomination list.
The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the American and international film industry. The awards are regarded by many as the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide.
Expressing his disappointment on his Instagram page, Kunle Afolayan wrote “I am so pleased and delighted that the whole world has decided to tag ANIKULAPO film a masterpiece even though the Nigeria Oscar selection committee think it’s not worth submitting for the Oscars. Will keep doing my own thing”.
Kunle Afolayan reacts as FG confers him with National honor
This Oscars invite is coming barely a few weeks after he was conferred with a National Honor.
The Filmmaker was among the 50 people conferred with Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON).
Taking to his Instagram page, Kunle Afolayan expressed gratitude to the government for the honor.
