Mixed reactions have trailed the new status of the parents of slain Sokoto student, Deborah Samuel Yakubu, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, who was gruesomely murdered recently for allegedly insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.
Kemi Filani reports that following her tragic death, her parents have been gifted 14 flats by the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry, Chibuzor Chinyere.
They were gifted a 14 flats mini estate, a car for Uber business, a big shop for her mum, a scholarship abroad for her immediate younger sibling and education up to the university level for all her siblings; six of them.
Sharing photos on its official Facebook page, the church said a car was also included in the gift to help the family of the deceased, who are currently in Port Harcourt.
The act has earned the Omega Church praises from Nigerians and at the same time sparked mixed reactions.

Kemi Filani recalls that Emmanuel Garba, the father of Deborah Samuel in a chat with the press, disclosed that Deborah is the second of their seven children.
“They were heartbroken and one of my children and the mother became sick as a result of the news of her death and how she was killed. They have still not recovered and I doubt if they will ever forget this thing that befell us, but we pray that the Almighty God makes things easy for us all.
My daughter was a God-fearing Christian, who was caring and obedient to us as her parents and her siblings. We maintain that we are not seeking redress in any court over the killing of our daughter. We are firm believers in Christ, who always leave everything in the hands of God. No vengeance, nothing. Everything is left to our creator.” he told punch.
