Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing while reacting to music stars, Davido and Burna Boy’s painful loss at the Grammys has given a shout-out to Headies.
It’s no longer news that famous Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Tem’s, Arya Star, Asake, and Olamide were snubbed in the different categories they were nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards, which was held on Sunday.
There was a massive outcry on social media when none of the singers clinched an award for their songs despite the high expectations.
Taking to her Instagram page, Nkechi averred that Nigerians and Nigerian artists would start appreciating Headies now because they now know of their worth.
She stated that a time would come when American rapper, Jay Z would fly to Eko Hotel, Lagos to receive a Headies award.
Nkechi added that no award platform is too small or not important as long as a group of people come together to acknowledge the hard work and then reward you for that.

She captioned the post with, “Giant of AFRICA. Proudly NIGERIAN. Now @ng_supereagles Make us proud on Wednesday. Return our list mantle. Prayers up for you all”.
Similarly, Veteran actor Osita Iheme had penned an open letter to the organizers of the Headies Awards, Ayo Animashaun.
Pawpaw took to Instagram to write to the Headies boss about the importance of bringing back the award. He apologized on behalf of the artists who no longer respect the awards by coveting an international prize.
While congratulating Tyla on her win, Pawpaw urged Ayo Animashaun to take his crown and rule and ensure to keep alive the credibility of the Headies Awards.
On Sunday, February 4th, music stars from across the globe gathered at the Crypto Com Arena in Los Angeles for the 66th Academy Awards.
Unfortunately, no Nigerian artist won any award as they lost to their rival. Burna Boy who scored 4 nominations, Global Music Performance, Best African Music, Best Melodic Rap, and Best Global Music Album, lost them all to his rivals.
Following suit, Davido lost his 3 Grammy nominations for Best Global Music Performance which Tyla won, Album of the Year, and Best African Music Performance.
Asake, Ayra Starr, and Olamide also lost their awards.
