Nollywood actress Maureen Okpoko has cried out for help following the sudden loss of her sight.
Making the announcement on Instagram hours ago, Maureen Okpoko in a video solicited financial assistance from Nigerians.
“Good day everyone, my name is Maureen Okpoko. I’m a Nollywood actor and I have suddenly lost my sight. That means I can no longer see or I cannot see for now.
“I’m seeking for your financial assistance. It will be greatly appreciated if you all can come to my aid. I also need your prayers and words of encouragement.
“It has not been an easy journey for me but I’m grateful to God for the gift of life. Thank you, thank you all,” Maureen said.
Kemi Filani reports that Maureen Okpoko has starred in Nollywood movies like Matured Games, Crazy Temper, Enemy of Light, The Banker, Wasted, Falling, One Room, Labour Room, and The Duplex.
She was nominated for the 2016 Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role
The mother of three in a 2018 interview with The Nation said life as a single mum is tough.
“The trauma alone is enough to kill one. You look at yourself and you look at your children and then the reason to live again keeps you going. You have no choice but to pick up the pieces and gradually start moving on. What does not kill one makes one stronger. That is what I have come to realize and I’m a typical example of a strong woman,” she said

Kemi FIlani recalls that in 2017, Maureen Okpoko lost her most-cherished possession weeks to Christmas.
The actress said the Toyota Corolla, she parked in front of the house in Surulere, Lagos was stolen in the early hours of Sunday the 3rd of December 2017.
Here is how she narrated her ordeal on FB;
“What a sad beginning of the month of December; my car was stolen in the early hours of the 3rd of December, 2017.
“Trying to think straight; the joy of the Lord is my strength.”
