Nollywood actor, Olaiya Igwe has made a u-turn about his support for APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, days after apologizing to Nigerians.
In an interview with Kola Olootu, he set the record straight that his apology doesn’t mean he regrets campaigning for the President. He stated that if given another opportunity, he would still campaign for him again.
He reiterated that God was the one who told him to strip himself naked and his to the beach to campaign for Tinubu.
“It was God who told me to go to the beach n@ked to campaign for Tinubu. Some people are saying I regret campaigning for Tinubu. I DO NOT regret campaigning for Tinubu, I will do it again if have the opportunity”.
Refreshing your memory, Olaiya Igwe made headlines last year, when he shared a video of himself n**ked praying for BAT. In the clip, Olaiya was standing at a river bank butt n@ked as he prayed to his creator to make Tinubu win the 2023 general election.
Olaiya at the time defended his actions with an excuse that Tinubu’s wife helped him during his trying times. He recounted how Remi Tinubu took care of him when he was ill and even offered to fly him out of the country for treatment.
Doubling down on his words in an interview with TVC, ‘Your View’, he revealed that he was commanded to do it spiritually.
His action made The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN) summon him and had reportedly faced a disciplinary committee.
However, a year later, in a post on his Instagram page, he apologized to Nigerians for the video, blaming it on the revelation he received over BAT.
According to him, Tinubu has been of great help to him, especially concerning his health and he had received a revelation to do the video. He noted how he received insults and curses from Nigerians.
Unfortunately, Nigerians didn’t buy his apology as they took to social media to drag him.
