The internet is still buzzing with stories about the recent drama at the Ooni of Ife palace. The divorce of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife, Queen Naomi Silekunola.
News broke out this morning that the couple has gone their separate ways over irreconcilable differences and reasons best known to them.
Kemi Filani recalls that one controversial blogger revealed the situation of the Ooni palace before it was disclosed and confirmed by the Queen.
Queen Naomi, earlier this morning, took to her verified social media to confirm that she has separated from her husband.
“Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”
Taking to social media, Nigerians expressed grief over their separation, urging for a reconciliation between the couple.
It would also be noted that some mocked the Ife monarch with the popular slang saying “Ooni don chop breakfast”.
