Over the weekend, Abike Jagaban, who has been alleged to be intimately close to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, was seen at a social gathering in Lagos where she was escorted by the Ooni of Ife’s staff of office.
Kemi Filani gathered that the occasion was actually her grandmother’s burial and a reception was held after at an event centre with the Ooni of Ife’s staff being used as an escort.
Immediately Abike, who is the Yeye Bewaji of Itoriland strolled in, a palace guard with the Ooni of Ife’s staff of the office was seen following her everywhere.
Well, this could have slipped without mention from some guests but lately, the staff of the office of the Ooni of Ife has been present at five weddings of his queens without the monarch’s presence.
But the beautiful blogger seemed not bothered and went about the party with the staff of the office carried by an escort.
“The staff of the office of the king represents him and could be at anyone’s party as long as it’s the king’s emissary carrying it. It’s a mark of honour and Abike is no stranger to the palace. If the king or anyone from Ile Ife couldn’t attend the party physically, the staff of the office would honour the invite. Nobody should place any unusual meaning to the office staff at Abike Jagaban’s party,” palace sources revealed to Kemi Ashefon.
Ooni of Ife to pick 7th wife
Meanwhile, it seems like the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi isn’t done with his marriage spree.
The Oonirisha is set to pick another wife again.
Reports making rounds as it that the Ooni is set to marry a seventh wife, Aridunu.
Medical doctor applies to be Ooni’s eighth wife
A medical doctor from Ekiti state had applied to become the eighth wife of the Ooni of Ife.
Following the news of his several marriages, a medical doctor who hails from Ekiti state had applied to be the monarch’s sixth wife.
The Medical doctor, identified as Bella Nifemi made a submission to the monarch.
She promised to represent Twitter and the Ekiti community well, if considered as his wife.
“This is my submission to be Ooni’s 8th wife. I’m also a Medical Doctor and I will represent Twitter and Ekiti community well”.
Ooni reveals reasons for marrying several wives
Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi had disclosed why he had been marrying several women for weeks now.
The Ooni while marking his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, had clarified why he married Mariam Anako and the others.
The Ooni explained that he tried making some changes but he couldn’t. Maybe referring to his decision to keep to only one queen and have concubines, the monarch said of the traditional heritage of Ile Ife, “This institution is bigger than me, beyond me. People in this palace are more than 800, they are close to a thousand. There are some people who have been living in this palace for more than 60 years, while some have lived here for more than 80 years old. Some people are over 100 years old in this palace.
If I had my way, I tried to challenge it but it blew in my face but thank God I’m still alive. It’s an institution that is rich in heritage, culture, and tradition.” Read more here.
