Veteran Nollywood actor Osita Iheme has penned an open letter to the organizers of the Headies Awards, Ayo Animashaun, following wing the massive loss of Nigerian afrobeats singers at the just concluded Grammy Awards in the United States.
It’s no longer news that famous Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Tem’s, Arya Star, Asake and Olamide were snubbed in the different categories they were nominated for the awards.
There was a massive outcry on social media when none of the singers clinched an award for their songs despite the high expectations.
Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw took to Instagram to write to the Headies boss about the importance of bringing back the award. He apologized on behalf of the artistes who no longer respect the awards by coveting to an international prize.
While congratulating Tyla on her win, Pawpaw urged Ayo Animashaun to take his crown and rule and ensure to keep alive the credibility of the Headies Awards.
“Dear @ayoanimashaun you tried to change the narratives but my home boys couldn’t see the future with you. They looked the other way after sometime citing some wrongdoings. thereby forcing you to move to that side. Home boys whatever happened in headies award happens x 3 the other side. Talent is not enough, there’s politics, finance, branding, monopoly, awareness . All of these is needed to activate to keep that LA gathering relevant. Does it hold outside? NO. Cause it will loose the sauce. Afro beat to the world, Do u need that gathering to show your talent ? you have conquered before their recognition. But your presence and fan base is needed to sell to the world. Because is your time. That’s if you aware, But is done in LA of course is larger than life.
