“People love to support the dead more than those who are alive” Yul Edochie weighs in on Oladips death saga

Yul Edochie Oladips

The Nigerian entertainment scene has been shaken by the bizarre and controversial ‘death’ saga of musician Oladips. This unusual episode has elicited strong reactions from notable figures like Yoel Edoche and Etinosa, highlighting deeper issues about public perception and celebrity culture.

About a week ago, social media was awash with news of Oladips’ death, leading to widespread grief among his friends and fans. The situation escalated when a hospital reportedly confirmed his passing. However, in an unexpected twist, speculations arose that Oladips was alive, suggesting that the death news might have been a stunt to boost interest in his new music album, given the lack of attention his work received when he was ‘alive’.

Recently, Oladips himself put an end to the rumors by announcing on Instagram that he was, indeed, alive. This revelation has since sparked a variety of reactions. Some people criticized him for taking things too far, worrying that his credibility might now be in question.

Actor Yoel Edoche weighed in on the incident, pointing out a peculiar trend where people tend to show more enthusiasm for the deceased than for the living. He observed that during the brief period when Oladips was believed to be dead, his music gained unprecedented popularity, with his songs climbing the Nigerian Apple Music charts and his pictures being widely shared. However, with the confirmation of his being alive, this enthusiasm and support seemed to have faded. Edoche urged people to support others while they are still alive, instead of letting jealousy or envy prevail.

Etinosa, another prominent figure in the industry, expressed her disapproval of Oladips’ actions. She criticized him for the poorly planned stunt, pointing out that it could lead to people not taking him seriously in the future. Although she had initially suspected foul play upon hearing of his death, she chose to wait before speaking out.

Oladips’ situation has sparked significant debate and reflection within the entertainment community and among the general public. It raises critical questions about the lengths artists might go for publicity and how such actions can impact their reputation and public image. The reactions from Yoel Edoche and Etinosa represent a broader discourse on the nature of fame, the quest for attention in the digital age, and the importance of authenticity in the entertainment industry.
