Portable says protesters are pøor and lazy

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, professionally known as Portable, has earned massive backlash on social media for tagging endbadgovernance protesters as poør and lazy.

The street singer, in a video that made rounds online, had spoken up about the nationwide protest, which was held on August 1st and is still ongoing. He blasted those who reminded him of how he partook in the EndSARS protest years ago but was retreating now. Responding to them, Portable said he was pøor then, which was why he participated in the protest.

Portable went on to state that most protesters are pøor and lazy people. He stated that their joblessness had led them to protest nationwide as he urged them to fight for themselves.

“You don’t have work. That’s why you’re protesting. Fight for yourself. Pøor man thinking is protest.

Most of the end bad governance protesters are pøor and lazy people”.

His statement has since earned him massive backlash from Nigerians, reporting his Instagram page to be taken down.

Nollywood actor Lege Miami, in a video he posted on his Instagram page, admonished Youths in Lagos to step back from the protest as he appealed to them to give the President a chance to fix the country. He noted how things are very expensive; however, he believes the President can fix it and needs more time with Nigerians. Citing another reason why he is against the protest, he noted how many youths will use the protest to cause havoc to the government.

Similarly, actress Tonto Dikeh had written a letter to Nigerians against embarking on a protest. She stated that she understands their frustration and concerns regarding the current state of their nation; however, she believes that the approach may not be the most effective method. Tonto suggested establishing a representative group that can meet with the President and advocate on their behalf.
